Fresh Arsenal offer now ‘expected in coming hours’ – Gunners ready to pounce

 Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera has a year left on his contract and Arsenal are keen on signing him this summer.

Three days ago, Radio Marca reported the La Liga club have rejected the Gunners’ initial bid. On Saturday, Superdeporte stated Arsenal won’t give up on the centre-back despite Los Ches rejecting their initial proposal.

On Sunday, the same newspaper reported Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is leading the charge. They also claimed the north London club’s initial offer was €15m and the next one could reach as high as €20-25m including bonuses.

Monday’s edition of Superdeporte claims the Premier League club are aware they need to pay at least €20m to sign the centre-back. Arsenal are continuing their pursuit of the 21-year-old and an improved bid from Mikel Arteta’s side is ‘expected in the coming hours’.

The Spanish club promised the defender they’d offer him a good new contract. He’s yet to hear from them after his agent had a meeting with Valencia sporting director Miguel Ángel Corona earlier this month.

Earlier claims stated Valencia are awaiting new CEO, Ron Gourlay, to arrive at the start of July before pushing ahead with Mosquera’s renewal.

Cadena Ser report Mosquera hasn’t yet heard from Gourlay or the club’s owners about a renewal.

Journalist Fran Guaita is annoyed by the lack of effort from Valencia to retain the player.

“It makes no sense this is going to end up getting muddied,” he said.

“It’s unserious and incomprehensible that Valencia claims they intend to renew the player, that he even tells his agent, staging a meeting at the club’s headquarters, and that almost a month has passed without Mosquera being able to consider a renewal proposal.

“I know Gourlay has been operational since the day after his appointment, even though he hasn’t yet settled in Valencia. There’s no justification for the two offers from Arsenal arriving before the renewal proposal from the Mestalla club. It’s a bad sign. We’ll see if it stays that way or if it’s something more.”
